Shared Education

Kissing the Shuttle Play.

The Shared Education Partnership between Castlewellan Primary School (CPS), Annsborough Integrated Primary School (AIPS) and Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche (BBB) have been working with Drama facilitators from the Lyric Theatre produce two versions of the play ‘Kissing The Shuttle’ by Dan Gordon.

BBB have been working with Erin Hoey and presented an Irish language version of the play ‘Ag Pogadh Spoil’ before Easter for their peers in their partner schools and also for their parents.

At the end of April, CPS and AIPS presented a joint production of the same play in English for the parental body and also representatives from the Education Authority and the Lyric Theatre.

All the pupils were thoroughly engaged in their productions, not only as actors but as set and costume designers. They have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to work and gain insights from professional actors, as well as learning about life in the past in the Linen Mills of the 19th Century.

Such was the success and standard of the performance that the Education Authority are planning to record the show once more and display it on EATV as an example of best practice in Shared education. We are all so delighted for this acknowledgement.
